The challenge
Stores lose around 70% of carts, and generic “you left something behind” blasts barely move the needle — they feel like spam and ignore what the shopper actually wanted. Worse, naïve automations can email people who already bought, or promise discounts that don't exist.
What I built
An automation that treats every abandoned cart individually. The AI writes a short, on-brand email that names the exact products left behind and offers help — then it sends, logs, and alerts the team, all hands-free.
- Personal, not templated: each email references the customer's actual items.
- On-brand & honest: the AI is instructed never to invent discounts or promises.
- Won't misfire: skips empty/junk carts and re-checks orders so it never emails someone who already purchased.
How it works
- Triggers on an abandoned Shopify checkout.
- Pulls the customer's items and cart value.
- Claude writes a tailored recovery email naming the products and offering sizing help.
- Sends to the customer and pings the team in Slack.
- Waits, then re-checks orders — if they've purchased, it stays quiet.
